Vernier Scale or Calliper is a 8 cm device used to measure the dimensions of an object.
Purpose: Measuring the distance between two opposite sides of an object and in lash industry we use it to measure our clients’ lashes, eyes and distance between them.
Calliper and lashes, you might ask?
In the lash industry as part of our day-to-day work a vernier calliper can be used in multiple ways.
It is a measuring tool; in our case clients’ natural lash length, lashline length and distance between the eyes.
This will help you determine the setting of the eyes – are they wide, close or regular set?
After your client’s first appointment create a record card, adding all technical measurements and notes about the client’s eyes. Every client is unique, and therefore each mapping is unique to each client. Keeping a record card with eye pad/tape with their unique mapping will help you at their infill appointment. You take the record card and calliper, and when patches are placed you can recreate the mapping you need and the client loves. It will save you time and help achieve the perfect look each time.
